View Full Version : Very Happy Camper. T610 Branding is gone.
Hi All
Though I would just report on my removal of the Vodafone branding using the Terminator Dongle from ucables.com.
The dongle arrived today after a week in transit. Whilst it was more expensive than the $US10 dongle reported by another member, my total including freight was less than the $US110 he reported (by 10 Euro). So I paid just 100 Euro all up including DHL Airfreight Door to Door.
I plugged the Terminator into the Windows XP based PC parallel port and connected the USB cable to the USB port. After removing the SIM card, the remaining cable was connected to the T610 and DIV v8.2 Patched started. No logs were required to complete either of the upgrades I applied because the boot validation was bypassed.
I first selected the appropriate AVR file and completed the upload in just over 6 minutes. Next I selected the Original_GDFS_Area flash and applied that. About 5 minutes later it was all completed and the T610 restarted. The handset started slowly but came online and connected with the network successfully.
Everything was back to normal...
My T610 was not originally locked so I did not need to unlock anything and I have successfully both made and received calls.
So if you haven't started yet, get stuck in - and good luck.
Cheers Mike
Could you post a link to the cable you bought?
I am going to get this: http://ucables.com/ref/ERT-BOX and use the div8.2 cracked software.
Is that what you purchased? I'd just like to confirm I've got it right before I spend that sum of money.
I am sick of waiting for the username/password for the two logs I purchased over 3 days ago from here, plus if I purchase this I'll be able to fix my mates phones (and upgrade my old T200 I believe?)
Cheers,
Tim
Hi Muppet
Yes that is what I purchased. The ERT-BOX in your link is exactly what arrived. I applied the AVR and GDFS upload tonight without any difficulty but I have not tried and AMR upgrade yet. I have a spare T68i that I might well try to load an AMR file into.
So this and the DIV 8.2 Patched will completely bypass the need for logs.
Depending on where you are the freight might be cheaper, however I only paid 10 or 11 Euro for DHL airfreight to the other side of the world so you will still be up for 100Euro or so. Of course if you are near Cordoba, Spain you could call by and pick it up I suppose...
Cheers Mike
Sorry Muppet - just saw your location. Not far from me (well about 380NM) so allow 5 days for delivery into Auckland. Mine took another 3 days to get to Lower Hutt can you believe.
Cheers Mike

Hi,
Can you e-mail me a copy of your Paypal reciept please? Paypal hasn't been sending me payment confirmations recently :(
Cheers, Paul K
@Paul_K
I am sick, too, waiting for my credits, the answer for my email an last but not least the answer for my pm. What's going up there?
cheers, Indalo
Like I said, if Paypal doesn't send the confirmation mail to the server then I don't know that the order is complete.
Check your mail...
Cheers, Paul K
I'd just like to say that once I sent Paul my paypal confirmation email, I got my username password within 15 minutes.
I have now flashed my phone's GDFS and AVR and am a very happy camper too!
I'm still going to buy the Terminator Dongle though, I know quite a few other people here who want their phone done and I'm going to charge them a 6pack of good beer each to do it.
Thanks everyone for your fantastic help and support!!
Tim
Well Done Muppet. Good feeling to get rid of that branding isn't it?
My thanks also to all those who helped me and especially Trinity and the very useful notes on his site.
Cheers Mike
Do you have to get the phone network unlocked before you can flash with the AVR and GDFS?
I took my T610 into a carphone warehouse the other week to have the software upgraded, it came back as R1L but the vodafone live crap was still there. I spoke to a guy in the shop yesterday and he's gonna have a word with the engineer see if he will remove the branding.
So if tell him to flash with files in T610_EU2_R1L013.zip and T610_Original_GDFS_area.zip this will remove all branding correct?
and going back to my original question does it have to be unlocked also?
Thanks
@maxwel_hung. Do a search here to check but I am sure I have read that you should unlock first. Whether you NEED to unlock is a different matter. Check the complete description on Trinity's site (you will find a link somewhere on this site) for a very good description of the issues.
If you do unlock, that will cost you one credit in addition to the credit for removing the branding with the files you have identified.
Cheers Mike
ok thanks mruane.
I found trinity's site and guide, although I had to do it through google cache as the site is down :(.
But anyway, the carphonewarehouse option didn't work, I can only presume that the software they use won't let it overwrite EU7, the engineer said it wouldn't take the upgrade to EU2.
So my next plan is the data cable route and doing it myself.
How many credits would I need to do the avr, gdfs and possibly unlock? And where would I get these from?
Thanks

Hi,
The Ericsson EMMA 2 software won't allow a Vodafone branded phone to be flashed with anything other than EU6 or EU7 :(
Cheers, Paul K
Yes maxwell_hung. I believe Paul is correct. I know that the service centres here will not change an EU7 to an EU2 however I thought that was because there were not allowed to - but Paul is indicating that EMMAII will simply not allow it. The reach of Vodafone is very scarry.
In which case you options are now clear. Get the cable or dongle and do it yourself. It is not hard. If you need to unlock with a cable only, then you will need two credits; one to unlock and one to flash. So that will come to about UK30 plus the cost of the cable. You need to consider whether purchasing a dongle is better value because you will not need the credits. However the dongle is more expensive (I paid 90 Euro from ucables.com) but it is cheaper in the long run, especially if you have mates with the same problem. I have seen sites in HongKong that have the dongle for $10 but I am not sure about them and their support. Your call.
Cheers Mike
Whilst it was more expensive than the $US10 dongle reported by another member
Can you please post any info about the $10 dongle?
At least the member who talked about it.
I want to get one :-D
Here is the site in HK that sells the dongle for $10 USD

The specific product link is

I order a cable, and I am still waiting. They said up to six weeks. But I am in Canada, so be prepared to wait.
thanks guys
I managed to borrow a datacable from a friend which seems to work. Well it see the phone with flashing gold anyway so I assume it does.
I ordered 2 credits to unlock and flash. how long does this normally take before you receive your password?
How do I go about unlocking the phone? I can see the details regarding getting the lock codes but how do I enter them? Accoring to my phone only the network is locked out of the 4 showing.
Thansk for all you guys help, I'm a bit nervous here I don't wanna kill my phone :)
Hi,
Login details already sent, check your e-mail.
To enter the codes go into your phones locks menu (<,*,*,<) and scroll down to the locked one, go into that and it will ask for one of the codes generated. Type that in, press yes, job done :)
Cheers, Paul K
Thanks Paul
I got it and it unlocked ok with one of the credits but do I need one each for avr and gdfs, someone told me 2 would do both. Then I have to pay £10 for the extra credit? hmm
nm I bought another credit, I figured you guys helped me out a lot so it's worth it.
I'd just like to say thanks to all those who helped me get rid of the vodafone crap off my t610.
I now have a lovely clean phone and 1.5mb of free memory.
Thanks again, this site rocks

I had a locked Vodafone branded T610 (EU7). I have NOT unlocked it (just checked an it is still locked) and I successfully flashed it to EU2 without any problems. I used the software available from this site and purchased the credits here too. So you can unbrand a Vodafone T610 without unlocking it first.
Cheers,
Shamus.
I think he means the ericsson software that their service centres use.
But you did answer my original question :)
