View Full Version : T610 Flashing clarification....
Could someone kindly confirm something for me with regards to the flashing of my T610.
My phone currently has R1A081 (EU_7).
Am I right in saying that given a suitable cable, the firmware file T610_EU7_R1L013.sbn and the Flashing_GOLD_v410.exe program (with at least one credit) I'll be able to flash upgrade the firmware of my phone ?
I read on this board about only flashing the phone with a suitable firmware pack of the same version and I just wanted to clarify what was meant by version.
Thank you,
Nutz

Hi Nutcracker,
you could flash to R1L013 with the software you mention. The only problem you will get that your phone will freeze everytime you try to call someone...
Let me explain the reason:
The T610 has two chips inside: AVR and ARM. Both need to have the same version. With the software Flashing_GOLD_... you can flash both chips, but for that you need 2 credits and more importantly two different cables since with the usual T28 data cable you can only flash AVR and GDFS and NOT ARM.
So when you flash your R1L013 SBN-File (which is for the AVR chip) you will have two different versions since your ARM chip still has the R1A081.
If you want to update your firmware I would suggest that you contact your local ServicePoint. The do that for free...
Greetings,
Trinity
Hey Trinity, thanks for the reply.
Ok, may be I should of written the question differently.....
Now that I've got my cable (took delivery of it today), my T610 (branded Vodaphone) what can I do with it ?
Ideally I'd want to get the latest firmware on there (I've seen on the download section that you have the latest Vodaphone branded firmware) but if the only answer to that is to take it to my nearest ServicePoint, then what is everyone else doing with their cable and T610 ? 8)

Hi Nutcracker,
let me rephrase as well =)
You cannot update your phone with the cable you have (I am guessing that. Maybe you can tell me what cable you bought then I can tell you for sure). But usually you can just use this cable to flash AVR and GDFS.
With your cable you can just remove the vodafone brandings. You can restore the original menu icons, you can remove the live-button and you can remove the WAP-links and you can restore the original Sounds, Pictures, Displayprofiles and Games.
I hope that answers your question. If not, please let me know...
@Trinity
I don't quite understaned why you said Flashing_GOLD_410 can't flash ARM! I have not use this software before, but I can see that there is an option for flashing ARM file!
If you run the software, you will see there is an option for you to select both AVR and ARM at the same time.
Please provide more information. Thanks :-D
Hi,
It can'r flash ARM as the cable needs to be modified.
Cheers, Paul K
Thanks, Paul_K, thats what I meant.
The software of course is able to flash ARM, but the cable is not able to do that
Hi Trinity & Paul_K,
Thanks for the reply.
Do you have more information regrading how to modify the cable so that I can flash the ARM?
Thansk again!
