View Full Version : T68i flashing for beginners ;-)

Hello everybody,

- First, I write T68i in title of topic but how can I know what T68i I own? Don't laugh! There is nothing written on mine. So, do I have a T68i or T68ic, etc.
- Then, I have a french mobile from Orange. So what firmware shall I upload to the mobile phone: AP, EMEA or US to get french language? For your information, in the language menu, I can choose between english, french or deutsch?
- At the end of firmware file name, there is AP or EMEA follwed by a digit. What does that mean? Do I need to download all file with the same name to get the whole firmware?
- Am I right if I say ARM file is for the modem and AVR is for firmware itself?
- Is it possible to set different version for main flash and modem flash? Is it dangerous?
- My mobile is customized by Orange. For example, I have a WAP profile named Orange.fr GPRS wich is grayed and that I can delete. How to make this customization disapear?
- When I'll flash my firmware, do I lost all my pictures, songs, phone numbers, all user's data, in fact?
- Shall I apply some GDFS to my phone after flashing? Which ones?

Thanks to the guy who'll take (long) time to answer me.

Hi Mohue,

is there nothing under the battery on the phone?

the difference between "i" and "ie" or "m" and "mc" is chinese language support.
if your phone has chinese strokes on the keys (e.g to the left of the 1 button a -) then it is an "ie" otherwise its an "i".

however if it doesn't say T68i on the front cover and instead says T68 then it is either a "m" or a "mc".

you can find out what software version you currently have by:

> * << * < *

(< > = joystick directions)

yes ARM is modem and AVR is firmware.

I think you can mix the two but the phone won't function properly.

I am only speaking from what I have read so far - I have not flashed my phone yet (I'm waiting for my flash cable to arrive) so someone else might have better information for you.

cheers
