Lets say that I've got the T28 seriell cable thats ok for flashing and I've downloaded the program of sonyericssonserver.com:

"Flashing_GOLD_v410.exe"
Is it enough to buy an credit and flash my T610 with the
"T610_Original_GDFS_area.gdf" file I've d/l from this site?

Or what should I do?

/From a newbie that "doesn't get it" :)

You could give it a try and take some time and read my howto.
This will hopefully give you some more information.

The procedure that is explained there is the one with the credits...

You are going to have to spend approx $40 Australian to do this, $20 per credit.

Purchase two credits from this site (click on Online Shop) and when you the PayPal confirmation email it to Paul_K so he can send you the username pass.

Then follow the flashing guide here:

This is what I did this morning, and I now have a 100% totally Vodafone free working mobile! Joy!

muppet: The link that you posted doesn't work anymore.

Is it enough to flash just the firmware if you just want to remove the vodafone branding or do you have to unlock the phone too?

Since I do have Vodafone as my "operator" I don't care about unlocking it. (At least not at the moment)

@voodooExtreme. You are also going to need the AVR file that matches the version of software that you already have in your handset. The GDFS clears wap links etc but the branding (i.e. icons etc) requires the AVR flash to restore the handset to its original SE look and feel.

@mruane, suppose you have a voda branding T610, and the software is earlier version, when you remove the branding can you flash the AVR to the latest one, and flash the the latest ARM as well. Then flash the GDFS.

Or do we need find the same version AVR that I already have on the phone, flash it. Then flash the AVR and ARM file to the latest one???

Cheers.

@flin898

I did not update both the ARM and AVR on the T610, I just updated the AVR and GDFS, however I did update both the ARM and AVR on the T68i. It worked fine (after a small error connecting with the phone). I see no reason why you could not do all three at once on the T610 provided you have the Terminator dongle. The T28 cable cannot be used to flash the ARM yet.

So using the dongle I would just select all three files (using the checkboxes in DIV) and let it rip. It should take about 20 minutes.

@mruane

Sweet..... I ordered a dongle from HK today.... should arrvie on the coming Wednesday... And my aunty is sending my lovely T610 from HK as well.... I'm so pleased about that... 8) 8) 8) 8)

BTW I saw someone selling the T610 with the firmware verision R1N in China?? I dont know that's true or not....

Thats interesting Flin. I had not heard of the R1N before. I have heard that R1S is out already and is installed on phones recently sold. So you may have a more recent version that R1N. Of course, the latest version of the AVR and ARM on this site is a little behind that so you may have to wait for a while if your T610 does have R1N on board - unless you regress it to an earlier version.
